Produce Manager

Buy-Low Foods has an opening for a Produce Manager at our new store in Nanaimo! We are looking for a leader who has a strong passion for fresh food and who can efficiently oversee the daily operations of the Produce Department in terms of sales, customer service, merchandising and product quality. The ideal candidate will be someone who leads enthusiastically by example, has excellent interpersonal skills and takes a genuine interest in people. Job Duties: Provide supervision to Produce Dept staff to ensure quality customer service Maximize sales and gross profit through effective and creative merchandising Maintain department inventory while adhering to departmental budgets Recruit, hire, train and mentor staff members Create the weekly work schedule for the Produce dept Efficiently stock, rotate and display product in a neat and appealing manner - including watering, trimming and merchandising to ensure quality and freshness Handle customer inquiries, requests and complaints in a prompt, polite and effective manner Comply with the store's established Health and Safety and Food Safety policies Liaise with the store manager, department heads and staff to address any concerns, discuss upcoming ads or promotions, cross merchandising, etc Skills & Qualifications: Previous retail management experience, preferably in a Produce Dept Superb customer service skills Exceptional leadership and organizational skills Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Experience ordering and maintaining department stock Flexibility to work a variety of hours which include days, evenings, weekends and holidays Our Commitment to You: Competitive wages with starting rates based on experience Quarterly bonus incentives Company matched RRSP Program Comprehensive benefits package: Dental, Extended Health, Life, Disability & BC MSP If you feel that you possess the knowledge, skills and abilities mentioned above then we would love to hear from you!
