$23 · Red wriggler cocoons/eggs---grow your own!

Worms under stress : end of season/ cold temps/ low food supply / lack of moisture, etc. go into survival mode. they lay very very many cocoons loaded with eggs . These cocoons will wait in stasis until circumstances improve, perhaps weeks, months, even years later. When the conditions improve to their liking, Water, food, heat etc. They rush to fill the void, hatching like crazy. And start all over again.
This ability has enabled worms to survive world wide for as long as time immemorial
Here at Happy Valley Worm Farm we work with natures system to produce what we call---"seed loaded" breeding vermicompost. We have held these over winter and they are ready to go!!
In a double-handed scoop we have never found less than 250 cocoons.and we cant count them all.
the math..........
225 cocoons---each cocoon has from 2-10 ? worms
If 80% hatch out with 3 or 4 worms per cocoon that's any where from 700 to 1000 worms or more.
They are slowly hatching now, Once you add food water and warmth they will kick into high gear. 50 to 90 days to maturity and they start to reproduce in your garden or while composting your kitchen waste and paper scrap into high grade vermicompost
