Now in its 52nd year of service and support to youth in Nanaimo, Comox Valley, & neighbour regions, join us to learn more about the Nanaimo Youth Services Association (NYSA) and its upcoming specialised "CareerStart" skills training, which is being held in partnership with the Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society (CVIMS). CareerStart will offer you with customer service skills trainings so you can secure work in any of the hospitality, retail or tourism sectors. This 18-week paid training opportunity, offered through the "Diverse Futures" (DF) program of NYSA, leads to regular paid employment. The program's 4-weeks of skills training pays you at BC Minimum Wage of $14.60 per hour. Employers pay you during the 14-week quality employment opportunity period, with NYSA paying employers a wage subsidy to hire you. All certifications offered through the training are provided free of charge by NYSA. This initiative is funded in part by the Government of Canada - Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) program. Telephone Information Sessions are being held from December 07th to 10th, 2020. Eligibility: Open to youth who are: * Between 15-30 years of age (inclusive); * Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or convention refugees and legally-entitled to work in Canada & work according to B.C. law; * Helped by skills trainings & wanting support to find work; * Motivated and show initiative; and * Available full-time for the program (30 hours per week minimum), from January 04th to May 09th, 2021 and for regular work afterward.
