Peerstay ($700/month): Room only, no food or meals included. Clean up after yourself. Homestay ($1,000/month): INCLUDES breakfast (self-serve), lunch, and dinner. You are also welcome to any food in the kitchen for snacks. The homestay option is perfect for a student who wants to focus on studying and doesn't have to worry about buying groceries, cooking meals, and cleaning dishes, as we do all that for you. We even provide a homemade packed lunch for school. We are experienced homestay hosts and have had students from China, Vietnam, Singapore, Kuwait, Qatar, and Japan. The room is located on the lower floor of the house and is absolutely massive! In fact, it takes up over half of the entire floor of the house. It is 600 square feet and has 3 sections: a bedroom section, a living room section, and a large study room. It even has its own 4-piece private bathroom! It is almost like a small apartment, only it has no kitchen. Your room contains everything you need including a bed, desk with chair and lamp, armoir, night table with alarm clock/radio, and dresser. In addition, the Huge Room has a mini-fridge/freezer, 52-inch TV with XBox One, bookshelf, sofa, coffee table, lamps, and coffee table. Some additional features of the actual house include: - High speed Wi-Fi Internet (no cable TV) - Large back yard with garden, flowers, fruit trees, and a vegetable garden - BBQ area - Front and back decks - Located in an extremely friendly neighbourhood with nature trails nearby We are located in Cinnabar/Extension in South Nanaimo which is about a 9-minute drive from Vancouver Island University (VIU). By bus, you need to walk 20-minutes to the bus stop by Country Grocer, and then the bus from there to VIU takes 15-minutes, so it is best if you have a vehicle. We have a very friendly Golden Retriever who is a part of the family, although he does shed so you must be okay with dogs and dog hair.
