$20 · Funky Hatching Eggs

Okay folks, spring is a comin' and that's the time for babies. Got a broody in your life? No broody, but want to try your hand with an incubator - no problem. Feeling a bit embarrassed that all your hens produce plain white or boring brown eggs. No need to tell her there'll be no 'special' eggs in her future with her lowbrow genetics. And that's because she doesn't carry the coveted blue egg gene. But you can change all of that: slip her some of the best eggs that money can buy. She will lovingly incubate those precious orbs and produce some of the coolest birds the two of you will ever see. And 6 months from now you can both stand proud - no need to hang your heads anymore. When your egg customers open their carton to see the jewel box of coloured eggs they are going to be blown away by the range of blue, green/olive, brown, white or cream eggs that await them. Nothing like the ooos and ahhs of excited chefs to puff up your chest. And how much is this self-esteem builder going to cost you? A paltry $20/dozen. Cheaper than therapy and easier on the wallet. I'm on Gabriola, but can bring to Nanaimo Mon-Thurs. I occasionally travel to Lake Cowichan, Duncan, Parksville and Port Alberni and can bring eggs with me. Sorry, but at this point I don't want to ship. My eggs have gone all over Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, the Lower Mainland and up to Haida Gwaii - where there's a will there's a way. Here's a sample of some of my eggs & birds. My rooster is Simon, a Silver Spangled Appenzeller Spitzhauben x Silver Laced Polish (carries white egg genes). My hens are purebred Ameraucanas & Crested Cream Legbar; and a number of crosses: Ameraucana, Polish, Spitzhauben, Legbar, Mille Fleur D'Uccle, Buff Orpington - many of whom have crests, beards, muffs. I've also got a Marans x Naked Neck and two lovely Frizzles.
